“Island of Expectations” was prepared for the “Island Ferry” Contemporary Art event held on the Princess Island and Islands ferry in the Marmara Sea near Istanbul. The identity of the space determined the form of the work. The people of the island were asked to leave the bottles with the messages they wrote in the defined area, just as the bottles with messages were left to the sea in the hope of getting rid of an island. Despite the increasing expectations, the symbol that hope will always exist, “Island of Expectations”, which is composed of a pile of these bottles, was created with the active participation of the people living on the island.
